Meet Dr. Robug–Happy Halloween!

We’ve dressed The Robug up for Halloween every year:

And, like most parents, we’ve always chosen her costume. Not this year.  This year, The Robug surprised us by telling us, “I be a doctor.”  Talk about making mommy and daddy proud!  Yes, you can totally be a doctor–mommy will get right to work!  And then it took mommy a while to get to work, but the work got done and The Robug had her costume for our first Halloween event last week: storytime, crafts, and trick-or-treating at the library’s Halloween Spooktacular.

And, of course, we went and did some trick-or-treating with our friends on Halloween.  And, of course, pregnant-brain mommy forgot the camera and only had my phone, so the pictures are a little crappy 🙂

This was the first year that we actually took The Robug out walking the neighborhood to trick-or-treat.  It’s amazing–how to trick-or-treat must be nature because she got it after the first house and then would run to the next one saying, “Let’s get more!”  It was quite funny and a lot of fun.

I designed and made Robug’s scrubs costume.  I used unbleached muslin and dyed it with Rit Teal dye.  I created a pattern for some comfy pants and just used that for the bottoms.  I used a baseball jersey as a model for the top and simply added some pockets.  She absolutely loved her costume and insists on being a doctor every day.

If anyone is interested in the pattern, I’ll go ahead and try to make a .pdf file that can be downloaded.  So, comment or email if you’d like the pattern and I’ll see what I can do 🙂

Thanks for coming by and reading!
